DENVER - Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo passed Blues legend Bob Plager to move into second all-time in games played by a Blues defenseman on Saturday.
Pietrangelo played in regular-season game No. 617 on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche and is second only to Barret Jackman, who played 803 games as a Blue.

"He's been a great player for the St. Louis Blues, and he'll be a great player for a long time," Plager said. "The way he's played, he's the team captain, and it's not just what he does on the ice. You couldn't have a better player to represent the St. Louis Blues off the ice in all that we do to give back to the city. The games played are great, but what he's done for the city that makes him even more important."
This season, Pietrangelo has passed Chris Pronger (598), Al MacInnis (613), Barclay Plager (614) and Bob Plager (616) on the games played list this season.
