It's hard to find a player in any sport who exercised this principle more than Adam Oates. The playmaker is the only one in history to center three 50-goal scorers (Brett Hull, Cam Neely and Peter Bondra), and tallied an impressive 1,079 career assists.
Oates wore the Blue Note for two stints from 1989-1992. Although not the longest-tenured Blue, the "Hull and Oates" era is unforgettable to the fans of St. Louis.
During this time, he totaled 58 goals and 229 assists. Although during his playing days many teammates referred to him as underrated, the NHL corrected this stigma when they named Oates to the "100 Greatest NHL Players" list in January.
