ST. PAUL, MN - Several hours before the NHL's trade deadline passed by on Monday, Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong made a big move,
sending forward Paul Stastny to the Winnipeg Jets
in exchange for a conditional first-round draft pick in 2018, a conditional fourth-round pick in 2020 and forward prospect Erik Foley.
Foley, 20, is a powerful right-winger that has demonstrated some athleticism and aggressiveness in his young hockey career. A third-round pick of the Jets in 2015 (No. 78 overall), Foley has developed into a consistent player for Providence College, where he has recorded 15 goals and 19 assists (34 points) in 32 games this season.
Not long after the trade, stlouisblues.com caught up with Foley over the phone to get the know him better

BLUES: Set the scene for us - where were you when you learned about your trade to St. Louis and how did you react when you received that news?
FOLEY: I was a little surprised. I woke up this morning and was going about the morning and I got the call from (General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff) of the Jets saying I got traded. It's just part of the business and I'm excited to be a part of the St. Louis Blues.
BLUES: How much did you know about the Blues before the deal?
FOLEY: I knew a little bit. I have a few friends with the team. I know Tage Thompson who is playing up with the Blues right now. I know Jake Walman because I played with him at Providence. I've heard great things about the organization so I'm just really, really excited to be part of it.
BLUES: You mentioned knowing Tage Thompson - you guys won a gold medal together with Team USA at the 2017 World Junior Championships - how did that experience help you guys bond?
FOLEY: Me and Tage were really, really close at the World Juniors. I think it's good to have a buddy like that when you go to a new organization to show you the ropes and keep you in the loop with the organization. It's nice to have those types of experiences with other prospects on the team you're headed to.

BLUES: You're joining a team that is loaded with some great forward prospects - Thompson, Jordan Kyrou, Klim Kostin and Robert Thomas, to name a few. Knowing that the future of the Blues looks very bright has to be exciting for you.
FOLEY: I've heard about them. I watched Kyrou and Thomas at the World Juniors and they're all good players. It's a testament to the organization.
BLUES: For fans in St. Louis who don't know much about you and are just learning your name for the first time today, what would you tell them about the player they're getting?
FOLEY: I'm a power forward, I like to use my shot and take pucks to the net. I like to work below the dots and try to be heavy on pucks, do the little things right. Hopefully they're going to get a reliable offensive player there.
BLUES: You've spent three seasons at Providence College. How do you feel like your game has developed since you've been there.
FOLEY: I feel like I've developed a lot at Providence. Being there has given me little parts of my game, little details that I've picked up a long the way. It's been a great part of my development.
