ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Chairman David W. Checketts announced today that SCP Worldwide Partner, Michael McCarthy has been named Vice Chairman of the St. Louis Blues.
Since SCP Worldwide purchased the St. Louis Blues in June 2006 McCarthy has worked closely with John Davidson, President, Hockey Operations and Peter McLoughlin, President, St. Louis Blues Enterprises on the day-to-day operations of the franchise.
“From day one of our ownership, Mike has been a trusted resource for me and has played an integral role in the new direction of the franchise,” said David W. Checketts, Chairman, St. Louis Blues. “While we have had some successes this season we still have a long way to go and I believe that putting Mike in this new role will allow us to achieve the goals we all have set out to obtain.”

McCarthy, who also serves as one of the team’s alternate governors, joined SCP Worldwide as Partner in July 2005. He is renowned for his creativity and production content along with his high-level business and strategic planning experience. He has used his skills to help build SCP Worldwide and its owned and operated businesses playing an integral role in the daily management and long-term growth initiatives of the company’s cadre of businesses.
McCarthy, prior to joining SCP, served as President of Madison Square Garden Networks Group (MSG Network/FSN New York), a position he held during his 23-year career with the organization. During his tenure, he oversaw the sports and news production and programming that led to an extraordinary 75 Emmy Awards and 250 Emmy Award Nominations.
In addition to the many Emmy Awards, McCarthy’s creativity and programming prowess were recognized as he and his staff garnered many other accolades throughout the industry, including the national Cable ACE Award, International Festival Award, two-time Pro Max Marketing Awards, Bandies Award and The Mark Award.
