So your dentist is running a little behind and you’re sitting in the waiting room much longer than you’d anticipated, bored and reading old magazines to help pass the time. What’s worse - the Blues and Blackhawks are battling in a big divisional matchup and you’d give just about anything to watch it.
Has that ever happened to you?
Well, not anymore. Those days are history.
Beginning with the 2016-17 season, Blues fans that have FOX Sports Midwest as part of their cable or satellite package will be able to stream live games on their mobile devices using the FOX Sports GO app.
“We are pleased that hockey fans that subscribe to FOX Sports Regional Networks will now have more ways to follow their favorite NHL teams,” David Proper, the NHL’s Executive Vice President of Media Distribution, said in a statement. “We believe increasing accessibility to NHL games benefits not only fans, but the League and its partners.”
The new multi-year agreement between the NHL and FOX Sports was announced on Monday.
Fans who have downloaded the NBC Sports app already had this feature for any Blues game airing on NBC or NBC Sports Network. Now with FOX Sports joining the fray, fans will have the ability to stream every televised Blues game this season, provided they subscribe to FOX Sports Midwest and NBC Sports Network as part of their cable or satellite subscription.
The FOX Sports GO app is available now for iOS, Android, Android TV, Amazon Fire tablets and select Windows devices. Games can also be streamed online at FOXSportsGO.com.
Last week, NBC announced the Blues will be featured in 12 nationally-televised broadcasts during the 2016-17 season, including Opening Night on Oct. 12 and during the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 2. FOX Sports Midwest will announce its broadcast schedule later this summer.
