Does your fantasy league award points for adversity?
If it does, and if you have a handful of St. Louis Blues on your team, you’re probably going to win that category before the week even starts.
David Backes and T.J. Oshie were diagnosed with concussions last week, Paul Stastny has an upper-body injury and countless others have been infected over the last several weeks with an infection that has made its way around the locker room.
Okay, okay... so there’s no category for adversity in fantasy sports.
So which Blues are good to play this week?
How about Vladimir Tarasenko and Jori Lehtera for starters. The combo has combined for eight goals and nine assists this season, including seven points last Tuesday in a 4-3 overtime win against the Dallas Stars. In that game, Tarasenko had his first career hat trick and an assist on Lehtera’s goal, while Lehtera also added two assists.
Both players have scored at least three points in two separate road games, joining Sidney Crosby, Phil Kessel and Mason Raymond as the only players to earn that distinction. Play them while they’re hot.
MORE GREAT PLAYS:
Alexander Steen had two goals and three assists last season against the New York Rangers. Against the Nashville Predators, he had four goals and an assist in five games. Luckily for his fantasy owners, Steen faces both of those teams this week.
Alex Pietrangelo played five games against Nashville last season, tallying one goal, five assists and a plus-5 rating in those games. The Blues will meet Nashville on Saturday night at home to cap off four games in six nights.
BLUES SCHEDULE THIS WEEK:
Nov. 3 at New York Rangers
Nov. 4 at New Jersey Devils
Nov. 6 vs. New Jersey Devils
Nov. 8 vs. Nashville Predators
