Krug, Thomas move past big hit from 2019 Cup Final

It's probably safe to say that the biggest hit in the 2019 Stanley Cup Final (which was a knock-down, drag out seven-game series characterized heavily by big hits) happened in the third period of Game 1.

After getting tangled up with David Perron in his own zone, Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug was left seeking revenge. Once he got to his feet, Krug darted the lengh of the ice to chase down the ever-irritating Perron, who was going to the bench on a line change. Because Perron got to the bench before he could settle the score, Krug needed someone else to take out his anger on.
Rookie Robert Thomas was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"I feel bad for Robby there," Krug said after watching the highlight again. "It's the situation that presented itself, and that's what happened."

On Oct. 9,
Krug left Boston for St. Louis, signing a seven-year, $45.5 million contract
to join the Blues on the first day of free agency. The move meant that Krug and Thomas would eventually have to address the hit. After

, the two finally chatted about the moment on a Zoom conference call Thursday with the Blues' front office staff.
"I see nothing wrong with it," Krug said when asked about the legality of the hit. "If you break it down, slow motion, full speed, there's nothing wrong with it, so..."
"How many times are you going to make me watch that thing?" Thomas said.
