ST. LOUIS - Now that free agency has settled down and Jaden Schwartz’s contract situation has been sorted out, the 2016-17 Blues team appears to be set.
The club lost a few veteran players this summer, including David Backes and Troy Brouwer - who left via free agency - and Brian Elliott, who was traded to the Calgary Flames at the 2016-17 draft. Key offseason moves include locking up Jake Allen for the next five years, signing Schwartz to a five-year deal, and bringing in free agents David Perron and goalie Carter Hutton.
There’s still more than two months until the season begins, so things could change: Vladimir Sobotka is expected to officially return and General Manager Doug Armstrong could still make a few tweaks to his roster. But for the most part, the 2016-17 Blues appear to be set.
