ST. LOUIS - Blues goaltender Jaroslav Halak has been chosen to represent Slovakia at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Halak, 28, will be representing Slovakia for the ninth time overall and the second time at the Olympics. Previously, the Bratislava native appeared at the 2002 and 2003 U-18 World Juniors, 2004 and 2005 World Juniors, 2007, 2009 and 2011 World Championships as well as the 2010 Olympics.
This season, the 5-foot-11, 181-pound goaltender has dressed in 28 games, sharing ninth overall with 17 wins (17-6-3), while posting a 2.40 goals-against average, .907 save percentage and two shutouts.
Currently in his eighth NHL season and fourth with the Blues, Halak has accumulated a 132-78-25 record to go along with a 2.41 goals-against average, .916 save percentage and 27 shutouts in 248 career games.
In addition, Halak has posted a franchise-best 18 shutouts during his Blues career.
