Game Notes - Blues 5, Penguins 2

  • The Blues won for the fourth time in their last five games and now sit just two points shy of Dallas for second place in the Central Division
  • The Blues outscored the Penguins 3-0 in the third period, marking the second time this season they have bested a team by three goals in the final frame (Nov. 7, 2015 vs. NSH)
  • Brian Elliott made 36 saves for his fourth win in his last five starts.  Tonight marked the third time that Elliott has faced at least 38 shots this season.  He is 3-0-0 with a 2.31 goals against average and a .944 save percentage in those situations
  • Paul Stastny tallied a goal and three assists for his 6th career four-point game and his first as a Blue.  Stastny is the first Blue to post four points in a home game since Vladimir Tarasenko on Dec. 16, 2014 against Los Angeles.  He now has seven points (2g, 5a) over his last six home games
  • Stastny also became the first Blue to log four points in a game against the Penguins since Rich Sutter on Oct. 29, 1992
  • Alexander Steen logged his 14th goal and added his 27th assist, eclipsing 40 points for the year.  2015-16 marks his 7th career 40-point campaign, including each of his last three
  • Vladimir Tarasenko buried his 25th goal of the year.  Tarasenko now has 15 goals at home which shares 4th overall with Patrick Kane, Evgeni Malkin and Corey Perry.
  • Troy Brouwer put the Blues ahead, 3-2, early in the third period and the goal proved to be his first game-winner as a Blue.  Brouwer later added an assist, giving him four multi-point games this season and 49 in his career overall
  • Kevin Shattenkirk scored an empty-net goal, his 9th tally of the year overall.  Shattenkirk is now just one goal shy of tying his career high for goals, which he set during the 2013-14 campaign
  • Robby Fabbri notched his 7th assist of the year; giving him five points (2g, 3a) over his last six games.  Fabbri shares 3rd amongst all rookies with five points in January
  • Joel Edmundson logged his sixth assist, giving him four helpers over his last six games.  Previously, he had accrued two assists through his first 28 games of the year
  • Colton Parayko posted his 13th assist and third over his last four games.  Parayko ranks 5th amongst all rookies in assists thus far, while he leads all rookie defensemen with 19 total points
  • Jay Bouwmeester logged his 11th assist of the season in his return to the lineup-Andre Benoit played 10:30 and blocked two shots in his Blues debut
