HAZELWOOD - Robby Fabbri said Wednesday that he was hopeful to return from injury before the end of the regular season so he could get back up to speed before the Stanley Cup Playoffs begin.
As it turns out, he’ll get his chance.
Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock announced Fabbri would be in the lineup Saturday when the Blues meet the Washington Capitals in the regular-season finale at Scottrade Center (7 p.m.).
“I think that’s what I wanted, to get at least one game in,” Fabbri told stlouisblues.com. “Get the speed, the timing, get all that back. Hopefully hit my stride and get that back for Game 1 of the playoffs.”
Fabbri has been out since he sustained a lower-body injury on March 29 vs. Colorado. The 20-year-old rookie forward has missed four games but has been skating regularly with the club.
“I think it’s been a good process,” Fabbri said of working towards his return. “I’m getting better and better every day. We sat down and said I can go back in and it’ll be OK. It's never fun watching. You want to be part of the game, you want to help the team as much as you can. When you're sitting in the stands, there’s not much you can do. I think it’s good to get one game in before playoffs start.”
Through 71 games this season, Fabbri ranks seventh on the club in scoring with 37 points.
