Erik Johnson Named Rookie Performer of the Week

by Staff Writer / St. Louis Blues
On the strength of a three assist game against the division-rival Columbus Blue Jackets, Erik Johnson has been named Future Considerations' Performer of the Week.

Johnson, whose week enabled him to move into a share of second place in rookie defensemen scoring with Tom Gilbert of the Edmonton Oilers and the Dallas Stars' Matt Niskanen, is now among the league's top-40 blueliners in scoring.

David Perron, Johnson's teammate, was an honourable mention along with Gilbert.

Oshawa Generals forward Brett MacLean, who was left off Team Canada's gold medal winning squad at the 2008 World Junior Championships, was named CHL Performer of the Week after recording 10 points in four contests. Michigan State defenseman Mike Ratchuk was given the honours among collegiates.
