ST. LOUIS - Bill Elliott, the father of Blues goalie Brian Elliott, has worked in the television industry since 1974 and has done a little bit of everything.
He worked as a producer at Global Television Network in Canada for 24 years, served as a video editor in Toronto, a producer for Olympic coverage in Calgary and directed the Canadian comedy series “The Red Green Show” for nine years.
On Tuesday, he added another career highlight by serving as a camera operator for FOX Sports Midwest while his son turned aside pucks in the Blues / Jets game.
“Every day I have to pinch myself,” Bill said. “I’m just glad I didn’t disappoint anyone that was working for the TV crew.”
Bill is in St. Louis this week in anticipation of the second-annual Dads’ Trip, which begins Thursday when the club travels to Florida for two games: Friday against the Panthers and Sunday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Twenty dads will join their sons on the team plane.
“This was so nice,” Bill said of shooting the game. “It really started off the Dads’ Trip nice for me.”
