ST. LOUIS - Joel Edmundson is establishing a solid career for himself in the NHL and has become a household name amongst hockey fans in St. Louis, but finding success at the highest level doesn't mean he will forget where he came from or the people who helped him get here.
Last week, the Blues defenseman arranged for his hometown midget AAA team - the Brandon Wheat Kings - to get a complete team set of new white helmets.

The Wheat Kings, whose colors are black and gold, have only worn black helmets since their inception in 1936, and most of those helmets don't even match because players and their families are responsible for purchasing their own equipment.
The helmets were delivered Monday - a joint effort between Edmundson and Warrior Hockey - giving the Wheat Kings home and away helmets for the first time in their storied history.
"I wanted to do something for the team so I contacted them and was told the players have been wanting white helmets for a couple of years now," Edmundson said. "I contacted my Warrior rep - John Kirk - and within a week, 25 helmets were delivered to their dressing room. I would have loved to have a home and away helmet back in AAA, so once I got the opportunity to donate helmets, I didn't hesitate."
Before he wore the Blue Note, Edmundson suited up for the Wheat Kings during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. His brother, Jesse, also played hockey for Brandon.
"I've always wanted to give back somehow," Joel said. "This seemed like a good way to do it."
