ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo
will join Alex Pietrangelo
and Chris Stewart
on Team Canada at the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Men’s Championship. A total of 10 Blues players and prospects will be representing their countries at this year’s tournament.
Colaiacovo, 28, played in 65 games last season and finished second among Blues defenseman with 26 points (six goals, 29 assists). The 6-1, 205-pound defenseman has played in nine NHL seasons, skating in 306 games, registering 120 points (28 goals, 92 assists) along with 169 penalty minutes. The Toronto, Ontario native was acquired by the Blues along with Alex Steen
from Toronto in exchange for Lee Stempniak on Nov. 24, 2008 and was originally drafted by Toronto in the first round, 17th overall in the 2001 Entry Draft.
The 2011 IIHF World Championship will take place in Kosice and Bratislava, Slovakia, April 29-May 15. Updated stats from the tournament will be posted at www.stlouisblues.com/worlds
