SAN JOSE - Kyle Lopes got the opportunity of a lifetime Monday while watching the Blues practice at the Sharks Ice Rink in San Jose.
The 20-year-old junior hockey player was waiting for the Blues to finish up so he could get on the ice with his own team when he caught the attention of Brodeur, who was one of the last players to leave the ice.
Lopes asked if he could take a shot at the NHL's all-time wins leader, and Brodeur obliged.
"One of the best experiences of my life," Lopes wrote on his Facebook page. "Got to go in on my favorite goalie and the best of all time."
Lopes didn’t score - in fact, he whiffed. Nonetheless, it’s a moment he’ll remember for a long time - the one where one of the game's best said "take your best shot."
