ST. LOUIS – The National Hockey League announced today that Blues forwards Brad Boyes, Paul Kariya and Keith Tkachuk will be on the 2009 NHL All-Star ballot.
Boyes, 26, has registered 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in 10 games played with the Blues this season. He currently ranks fifth in the NHL with a 31.8% shooting percentage. Last season, Boyes finished tied for fifth in the NHL with a career-high 43 goals. He ranked second in the NHL with a 20.8 shooting percentage and was tied for first on the team with 65 points (43g, 22a).
Kariya, 34, is tied for second in the NHL with 12 assists and ranks first on the Blues with 14 points (two goals, 12 assists). He is tied for first in the league with eight power play assists and is tied for third with eight power play points. Last season, Kariya was tied for first on the team with 65 points (16g, 49a), ranked fourth on the team with 16 goals and ranked first on the team with 49 assists.
Tkachuk, 36, is tied for fifth in the NHL and leads the Blues with eight goals. He also ranks second in the league with six power play goals and is tied for eighth with a 28.6% shooting percentage. Earlier this season, Tkachuk posted a career-high eight-game goal scoring streak (seven goals) dating back to last season from April 5, 2008-Oct. 22, 2008. Last season, he scored his 500th career goal on April 6 at Columbus, becoming the 41st player in NHL history and fourth American-born player to score 500 goals.
