ANAHEIM - Stats don't always tell the whole story, and that's clearly evident when it comes to Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester.
Through 43 games, Bouwmeester has registered one goal, 10 assists and a -4 rating, but it's clear that the 6-foot-4 defenseman is on top of his game.
"He's one of the best skaters in the world," defenseman Alex Pietrangelo said. "From day one this year, he's been skating fantastic, he's been moving the puck. This guy is playing at an unbelievable level right now, and he's hard to keep up with some times because he skates so fast."
A groin injury hampered Bouwmeester last season.
"I think he tried to play through an injury last year and wasn't healthy," Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said. "Now he's healthy, he feels good and he's having fun playing hockey again and it shows in his play."
