Bortuzzo Sustains Lower-Body Injury

by Chris Pinkert / St. Louis Blues

ST. LOUIS - Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo sustained a lower-body injury in Saturday’s 4-3 overtime win vs. Montreal and has been ruled out for Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock didn’t elaborate on the injury, saying only that he wouldn’t play on Monday and that “it’s a loss for us.”

The injury is believed to have occurred when Bortuzzo blocked a shot late in the second period.

No timetable for his return has been set.

Through 24 games this season, Bortuzzo has scored one goal, has an even plus/minus rating, and has logged 42 penalty minutes.

As a result of the injury, the Blues have recalled defenseman Andre Benoit from the Chicago Wolves.
