Bob Ising has been a Blues Season Ticket Holder for 20 years and has never seen an event like the Blues Winter Carnival.
For three hours Thursday, Ising and other fans met players while participating in carnival-style games, casinos and other concourse activities. In addition, they were treated to a Q&A discussion with T.J. Oshie
, Erik Johnson, David Perron
, Blues President John Davidson and Head Coach Davis Payne.
“This is pretty cool,” Ising said at the event, which was open exclusively to Blues Season Ticket Holders. “My son Max is digging it big time. He goes to every game.”
The Blues designed the event to give fans a chance to get to know the players and to say thank you for their support.
In addition to carnival games such as Inflate-a-Hoops, Ultimate Joust, Obstacle Courses and Basketball Bungee, fans could take pictures in the penalty box, have their faces painted, get caricatures, have their palm read and shoot on goal.
Johnson said he enjoyed meeting with fans at the carnival atmosphere.
“I’ve never seen anything like this, and it was an absolute blast,” he said. “It’s something where we can get a lot of Season Ticket Holders together, and I don’t think many teams do something like this.
“The question and answer session was fun, we got to make fun of each other and be ourselves. We had a great time, it was a lot fun.”
Johnson added that he was amazed to see so many fans turn out for the event and show their support of the team.
“You see all the support that Blues fans have for our team and us as individuals, so it’s a great event and I hope we do it again.”
