ST. LOUIS - Blues players will wear jerseys featuring the Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club bulldog before Tuesday’s 7 p.m. game vs. Winnipeg at Scottrade Center.
The jerseys, which will be worn during warm-ups, will commemorate the retirement of Martin Mathews, co-founder of Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club. Mathews will also drop the ceremonial puck before the game.
Mathews and the late Hubert “Dickey” Ballentine founded the Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club in 1960 in order to provide structured recreational activities to neighborhood children. Today, the club focuses on emphasizing respect, restraint and responsibility through athletic competition while also promoting team-building, increasing self-esteem and the importance of becoming literate and education citizens.
After warm-ups, the jerseys will be autographed by each player and placed into an in-game auction outside Section 119. Other jerseys will be auctioned online beginning March 11 at 3 p.m. (players subject to change)
