Blues to Receive "Ray of Light" Award

On February 29, St Louis for Kids (SL4K) announced the honorees for its annual fundraising dinner, Lighting the Way.  Martin Mathews, President, CEO and Co-founder of the Mathews-Dickey Boys and Girls Club will receive the Beacon Award, and the St Louis Blues will receive the Ray of Light Award on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the 9th Street Abbey. Co-chairs for this year are Deb Hollingsworth from AT&T and Richard Mark from Ameren.


St. Louis for Kids Executive Director, Jama Dodson states, “We are privileged to recognize Mr. Mathews for the 48 years of service he has devoted to children and youth in the St Louis area; not only in sports, but also in academics and character building. It is also our pleasure to acknowledge the St Louis Blues for the variety community-based initiatives they offer that help improve the lives of children in this region."

St. Louis for Kids is local non-profit organization that provides leadership, coordination, technical assistance, and advocacy to the region’s youth-serving organizations focused on improving quality, accessibility and sustainability of non-school hour programs so that our youth have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and grow into healthy adults. The motto of St. Louis for Kids is ‘Promoting the Power of Non-School Hours’.
