ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Saturday the club has signed forward Jay Barriball
. He will report to the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
Barriball, 23, has spent the past five seasons at the University of Minnesota where he has made 154 appearances, amassing 130 points including 51 goals and 79 assists. This season, the 5’9, 179-pound forward has played in 30 games ranking second on the team with 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists) while he leads the club in both power play goals (7) and game-winning goals (3).
The Prior Lake, Minnesota native was originally drafted by San Jose in the seventh round, 203rd overall, of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Blues along with Ville Nieminen and a 2007 first round draft choice (David Perron
) in exchange for Bill Guerin on Feb. 27, 2007.
