Blues Select Pietrangelo with 4th Pick

OTTAWA – The St. Louis Blues today selected defenseman Alex Pietrangelo with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.


Pietrangelo, 18, a native of King City, Ontario, finished last season seventh among all OHL defensemen in scoring with 53 points (13 goals, 40 assists), playing for the Niagara Ice Dogs.

He participated in the 2008 OHL All-Star Classic and the 2008 CHL Top Prospects Game

He played his first OHL season with the Mississauga Ice Dogs of the OHL, collecting 52 points (seven goals, 45 assists) in 59 games played.

Pietrangelo represented Team Canada at the 2007 Ivan Hlinka Under-18 hockey tournament in the Czech Republic.

The 6-3, 211-pound defenseman was ranked 6th among all North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
