by Staff Writer / St. Louis Blues

ST. LOUIS — The St. Louis Blues have named Steve Chapman to the new position of Group Vice President, Brand, Community and Partnership Development.

Chris Zimmerman, Blues President and CEO, made the announcement today.

Chapman will start on March 9, and comes to St. Louis from Atlanta, Ga., where he was the founding President and General Manager of the Gwinnett Gladiators, an East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) team. Chapman also served as Chairman of the ECHL. He brings longtime experience in creating an exciting product for fans and corporate partners.

“Steve has shown impressive results with the Gladiators, starting from scratch to build a rabid fan base and strong partner support,” Zimmerman said. “We’re confident that his skills will be tremendous assets as we focus on delivering the best possible fan experience and expanding our fan base.”

Chapman’s appointment aligns with the Blues’ ongoing commitment to enhance the game-day experience for fans, while solidifying and growing the team’s connection with business partners and the community at large. In this role, he will also oversee marketing and partnership development for Scottrade Center and the Peabody Opera House.

In Atlanta, Chapman’s team showed increasing fan support and revenue in a non-traditional hockey market, while offering ticket and corporate sales initiatives that appealed broadly to partners and fans beyond the sport of hockey.

“Hockey is the most exciting spectator sport in the world,” Chapman said, “and we’ve made it fun for fans and sponsors by showing that it can be a great entertainment opportunity. I’m looking forward to joining the St. Louis Blues and contributing to this incredible community asset."

Zimmerman said Chapman’s broad experience as Chairman of the ECHL, a nationwide hockey league with 28 teams, has given him unique exposure to all facets of team management.

Chapman’s work with the ECHL and the Gladiators lines up with a lifelong love of hockey, which began when he played youth hockey in Lakeville, Mass.

Chapman is moving to St. Louis with his wife, Cindy, and two children.
