ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations John Davidson released the following statement regarding the passing of former Blues General Manager, Ron Caron, who was with the team from 1983 to 1997.
"On behalf of the St. Louis Blues, I would like to express how saddened we are to hear about the passing of Ron Caron,” said Davidson. “Mr. Caron was extremely passionate about the Blues and the city of St. Louis.
"He will truly be missed.”
Caron led the Blues to a 438-405-127 record during his time with the club including a 47-22-11 (105 points) mark in 1990-91, the third best season in club history.
The Blues qualified for the playoffs in each of Mr. Caron’s 12 years as General Manager.
Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock commented on Mr. Caron's passing prior to Tuesday's game in Montreal: "I just knew Mr. Caron as an opposing coach, and he was always a good man and a sincere man to us. (He was) really passionate about the Blues...he just had such a great heart."
