by Staff Writer / St. Louis Blues
ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson released the following statement regarding the passing of former Blue Michel Mongeau.

"On behalf of the St. Louis Blues and Peoria Rivermen, I would like to express how saddened we are to lose Michel,” said Davidson. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Chantal and his two children Alex and Catherine.”

Mongeau reportedly died Saturday night after a battle with melanoma skin cancer.

Mongeau, 45, played in 50 games for the Blues from 1989-92, recording 23 points (five goals, 18 assists) along with eight penalty minutes.

He appeared in 328 games for Peoria over six seasons, amassing 447 points (165 goals, 282 assists) and was a member of the Rivermen that skated to a pro hockey record 18-game win streak in addition to a Turner Cup championship in the 1990-91 International Hockey League (IHL) season.
