ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has extended the contracts for Assistant Coaches Ray Bennett, Brad Shaw and Rick Wamsley.
“Our coaches we’re instrumental in the outstanding run we had in the second half of this past season,” said Davidson. “They will continue to play a major role as we develop our younger players.”
The Blues posted a 41-31-10 record and a 25-9-7 record in the second half of this past season which led the NHL, jumping from 15th place in the Western Conference standings to the #6 seed and returning the club to the playoffs for the first time in five years. The Blues’ playoff surge was one of the finest in NHL history earning nearly 59 percent of their points since January 19, the highest such rate by any playoff team since 1940.
Blues Head Coach Andy Murray was nominated for the Jack Adams Award which is given annually to the NHL’s Coach of the Year. The winner will be announced Thursday, June 18, during the 2009 NHL Awards that will be broadcast live from the Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Hotel Las Vegas on VERSUS.
