On January 18, 1958, Willie O'Ree became the first black player in the NHL when he laced up the skates for the Boston Bruins.
This year, the anniversary of O'Ree's first game coincides with Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

To celebrate, the St. Louis Blues have launched a special online auction to support the Christian Hospital Foundation and their annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration.
Fans can bid on game-worn jerseys from former Blues Grant Fuhr, Ryan Reaves, and Jamal Mayers. In addition, fans will also be able to bid on a game-worn Blues helmet with a Celebrating Equality decal. Players will wear the decal on their helmets throughout Black History Month.
To view the auction, visit blues.givesmart.com or text BLUES to 76278.
The auction ends January 18 at 8 p.m.
