ST. LOUIS - This weekend, the Blues will be traveling some extra cargo.
Twenty Dads will join their sons as the Blues swing through Florida to face the Panthers on Friday at 6:30 p.m., and the Lightning on Sunday at 5 p.m. This marks the second consecutive season the Blues have taken the dads along for a road trip.
Last year's event was a success not only off the ice, but on it, as the Blues collected victories in both Carolina (Jan. 30) and Washington (Feb. 1).
As for activities away from the rink, Blues GM Doug Armstrong will host the dads for dinner prior to the game on Friday, while the players and dads will have a full day off together on Saturday in Tampa Bay. A few of the families have already arranged off-day plans, including Brian and Bill Elliott, who have scheduled a fishing trip.
The Dads Trip is truly a special time in which players get to share the fruits of their profession with the men that made it possible for them to reach its pinnacle. The trip is sure to produce memorable moments both on and off the ice, which you can follow daily at stlouisblues.com or through the Blues' social media accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Also, look for an exclusive video on Saturday featuring Alexander Steen and his dad, Thomas, who played for the Winnipeg Jets.
