ST. LOUIS - As the regular season winds down and the Stanley Cup Playoffs get set to begin, the Blues are battling injuries to a substantial amount of players.
Before Friday's game against the Dallas Stars, Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock revealed that Brenden Morrow (undisclosed), Vladimir Sobotka (lower-body) and Derek Roy (upper-body) would be unable to play in the game. Those three players add to a list that already included captain David Backes (lower-body), T.J. Oshie (undisclosed) and Vladimir Tarasenko (hand).
During the game Friday, Patrik Berglund also left in the third period with an apparent injury.
With possibly seven of the team's top 12 forwards out Sunday vs. Detroit with injuries, the Blues have recalled forwards Sergey Andronov, Adam Cracknell, Keith Aucoin and Ty Rattie.
“We’ve been able to, pretty much the whole year, stay healthy,” Hitchcock said Friday morning. “We would have preferred better timing and it is what it is. Everybody goes through this, but we just got it at the end of the year. You’ve got to stay focused on the guys you have.
“The playoffs start Thursday and I’d imagine we’re hopeful all or most of these guys are back for Thursday.”
