COLUMBUS - Paul Stastny and Kevin Shattenkirk showed their support for the red, white and blue on Friday night at Mapfre Stadium in Columbus for the World Cup qualifying game between the United States and Mexico.
Although they were the only American-born Blues to attend, they brought along some of their teammates for extra support: Alexander Steen, Jaden Schwartz, David Perron, Dmitrij Jaskin and Carl Gunnarsson were all donning USA colors, too.
"Obviously USA / Mexico is the one you want to go to. It was amazing," Shattenkirk said of his first World Cup qualifying game. "That was a great atmosphere. The chants, the crowd, just the energy in general. It was really just a lot of fun to be a part of and see how much soccer has grown in the US."
Unfortunately, the United States gave up a goal in the 89th minute and fell 2-1 to Mexico.
