ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that the club has assigned forward Yan Stastny and defenseman Tyson Strachan to the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
Stastny, 26, played in 34 games this season with the Blues, registering seven points (three goals, four assists) along with 20 penalty minutes. He also recorded 19 points (12 goals, seven assists) and 21 penalty minutes in 30 regular season games with Peoria. Stastny has four points (two goals, two assists) in three playoff games this season with the Rivermen.
The Quebec City, Quebec native was originally Boston’s eighth round selection, 259th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Strachan, 24, made his NHL debut with the Blues on Dec. 18th at Washington. He skated in 30 games for the Blues this season, registering three assists and 39 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 212-pound defenseman has played in 29 games for the Rivermen this season, recording five points (two goals, three assists) and 67 penalty minutes.
The Melfort, Saskatchewan native was originally drafted by Carolina in the fifth round, 137th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
