Blues assign Barbashev, Blais to AHL

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has assigned forward Ivan Barbashev to the American Hockey League's (AHL) Chicago Wolves, and forward Sammy Blais to the AHL's San Antonio Rampage.

Barbashev, 21, has dressed in six games for the Blues this season. In 2016-17, the 6-foot, 187-pound forward appeared in 30 regular season games for the Blues, posting 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and two penalty minutes. Barbashev also played in 46 regular season games for the Wolves, logging 37 points (19 goals, 18 assists) and 14 penalty minutes. The Moscow, Russia, native was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round (No. 33 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Blais, 21, has dressed in four games for the Blues this season, recording one assist and two penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward has also appeared in two games with the Rampage, tallying four points (three goals, one assist) and two penalty minutes. In 2016-17, Blais played in 75 regular season games for the Wolves, posting 43 points (26 goals, 17 assists) and 58 penalty minutes. The Montmagny, Quebec, native was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
