Blais to make NHL debut Saturday against Tampa Bay

by Chris Pinkert / St. Louis Blues

TAMPA BAY - Despite a strong preseason that saw him tied for the team lead in points, Sammy Blais found his name among the list of final roster cuts after training camp in early October.

Rather than hang his head, the 21-year-old forward reported to San Antonio with a positive attitude, then scored three goals and an assist in the first two games of the season.

Now Blais is back with the Blues and he will make his NHL debut tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning at 6 p.m. CT at Amalie Arena (FSMW, FSGO, KMOX).

Blues want to finish road trip on good note

by Chris Pinkert / St. Louis Blues

TAMPA BAY - The Blues have an opportunity to return to St. Louis tonight with an impressive 3-1 record on their four-game road trip if they can secure a victory in tonight's 6 p.m. game against the Tampa Bay Lightning (FSMW, FSGO, KMOX).

And as Head Mike Coach Mike Yeo alluded to after Thursday's loss to the Florida Panthers - the Blues' first loss of the regular season - a 3-1 road trip would feel a lot better than a 2-2 road trip.

Schenn, Blues get off to fast start

Brayden Schenn is delivering big in the early going for Blues

by Chris Pinkert / Notes by Dan O'Neill

SUNRISE, FL - When Doug Armstrong acquired Brayden Schenn at the 2017 NHL Draft in a trade that sent Jori Lehtera, a first-round pick and a 2018 conditional pick to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Blues' general manager said he felt he was getting a player in the prime of his career and with great character.

"(Those) were the things that attracted us to him," Armstrong said. "One thing that always comes back is he's a team-first guy. We lost a lot of character in another trade (at the draft), and I'm not sure we would have done that one without knowing Schenn was coming back."

Schenn has certainly delivered in the early going.

Allen figures if he's going to make the saves anyway, why not make them count for something more?
