ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues, in conjunction with Fox Sports Midwest, announced today the club’s 2010-11 television schedule. This season, Fox Sports Midwest will televise 75 Blues games while the National Hockey League’s national television partner VERSUS will broadcast five Blues games, marking a franchise-record 80 games to be televised in 2010-11.
FOX Sports Midwest’s high definition (HD) schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. It’s expected that a record number of Blues games will be produced in HD this season, with Versus’ five games and the vast majority of FOX Sports Midwest telecasts in HD. “We’re excited to deliver a record 80 televised games to our fans for the 2010-11 season,” said Peter McLoughlin, CEO of St. Louis Blues Enterprises. “In addition to the large number of the games being televised and working with our excellent partner Fox Sports Midwest, fans are also going to be viewing the majority of the games in high definition.”
Fox Sports Midwest, entering its 15th season as the Blues’ flagship television partner, will air 75 games and will begin with the season opener on Saturday, October 9 when the Blues host the Eastern Conference Champion Philadelphia Flyers at Scottrade Center. Coverage of every game on Fox Sports Midwest begins and ends with Blues Live, the network’s in-depth pregame and postgame show. There are two games (Dec. 21 at Atlanta and Feb. 14 vs. Vancouver) that will not be televised in order to comply with Versus’ exclusive national TV window.
John Kelly returns to the broadcast booth for his sixth consecutive season with the Blues while entering his 21st season calling play-by-play action in the NHL. Kelly, son of the late legendary Blues broadcaster Dan Kelly, Sr., will be alongside former TSN and current national NHL analyst, Darren Pang, for all games being televised on Fox Sports Midwest. This season represents Pang’s second as the Blues’ television color analyst and 18th as an NHL commentator. Blues Hall-of-Famer Bernie Federko returns in his role as an ice-level analyst between the benches for home games and co-host of FOX Sports Midwest’s Blues Live pre-game and post-game shows. Jim Hayes will serve as an in-game reporter and contributor to Blues Live while Pat Parris will host Blues Live.
The Blues will play five times on VERSUS throughout the season as the network enters its sixth season as the NHL’s national television partner. VERSUS will televise 78 games during the 2010-11 regular season, 13 more than last season, including 53 exclusive regular season games and 25 bonus games. In addition to live coverage of the All-Star weekend and the 2011 NHL Heritage Classic, VERSUS will cap off the final week of regular season action with a game each night (Monday-Friday) leading into the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs. VERSUS once again will air wall-to-wall action throughout each round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, culminating with Games 3 and 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.
