ST. LOUIS – The energy is building…
The 48th year of St. Louis Blues hockey starts tonight with a new theme: “Our Town. Our Team.” We want to amplify and celebrate the passion our fans and the community have for Blues hockey as the season begins.
“Our organization has focused on answering one question: How can we get better?” said Chris Zimmerman, Blues' president and CEO of business operations. “We’ve been working hard in the off-season to upgrade the fan experience at Scottrade. We hope our fans welcome the improvements — and are ready for an exciting season.”
On and off the ice, Blues fans will see changes across the arena, including:
Team first. On the ice, fans will find new stars skating for the Blues: The NHL’s most sought-after free agent, center Paul Stastny; center Jori Lehterä; winger Joakim Lindstrom and defenseman Carl Gunnarsson.
A big Face-Off Week. Week one of the season will be a multi-game celebration. We’ll honor five Blues legends during Opening Night — Bob Plager, Garry Unger, Bernie Federko, Brett Hull and Al MacInnis — with a pregame ceremony longtime Blues fans won't want to miss.
The Blues Block Party is back. Celebrate our opening week on 14th Street adjacent to Scottrade Center for live music, sponsor booths, an inflatable ice rink and more. It starts at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, before the Blues face-off against the Calgary Flames. A special “blue carpet” arrival by Blues players will highlight the event.
Fresh, new look. We’ve launched our multi-year plan to upgrade, brighten and modernize Scottrade Center. As our 20th year in the arena begins, look for new flat-screen televisions; brighter, fresher carpeting — plus, improvements to the arena’s ice plant to ensure the best possible playing surface.
New food selections. Fans throughout the arena will find new, fresh menu options. We’ve added numerous chef stations where fans can get made-to-order specialties, including carved smoked meats; gourmet macaroni and cheese; stir fry; and newly added St. Louis-themed items including freshly prepared G & W Bavarian-style sausage, Ted Drewes frozen custard and Gus’ Pretzels. In addition we’ve introduced a signature beverage menu featuring The Lou, Slap Shot, Hat Trick hand-crafted beverages, as well as a selection of St. Louis craft beers.
Tradition continues. In the tradition of the musical Blues and our St. Louis heritage, our signature organ music will remain a key feature of our game experience and listen for some exciting, new sounds as well.
Between games look for more engagement and communication from the Blues with contests, online games and more interaction on social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and more. Join the conversation by using #STLBlues #OurBlues #LGB hashtags.
