ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has acquired defenseman Zbynek Michalek and a conditional third round draft pick from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for forward Maxim Letunov. Letunov was the Blues' second round pick (52nd overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Michalek, 32, has dressed in 53 games with Arizona this season, posting eight points (two goals, six assists) and 12 penalty minutes. The 6'2, 210-pound defenseman is a veteran of 11 NHL seasons, including stints with Minnesota (2003-04), Pittsburgh (2010-12) and Arizona (2005-10, 2012-15) . He has accumulated 167 points (38 goals, 129 assists) and 296 penalty minutes in 696 career regular season games. In addition, the Jindrichuv Hradec, Czech Republic, native has played in 20 career postseason games, recording four assists.
