ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has acquired forward Francois-Pierre Guenette (frahn-SWUH-PEE-air, gwih-NEHT) from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Zack Fitzgerald.
Guenette, 23, played in 67 games last season with the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL, leading the club with 42 assists and finished fourth with 55 points (13 goals, 42 assists). From 2001-2005, the 6-0, 184-pound center played in the QMJHL between the Halifax Mooseheads and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles registering 244 points (95 goals, 149 assists) in 246 games. Two seasons ago, Guenette recorded 42 points (12 goals, 30 assists) in 68 games with the ECHL’s Columbia Inferno.
The Laval, Quebec native was originally drafted by Vancouver in the 7th round, 222nd overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
