ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that defenseman Christian Backman will be sidelined for 7-14 days with a cracked bone in his left foot. He was given an MRI after last night’s game by Dr. Rick Wright at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He suffered the injury in Friday's game against Anaheim after blocking a shot in overtime.
Backman, 27, has skated in 43 games for the Blues this season, collecting 10 points (one goal, nine assists) along with 30 penalty minutes. He was originally St. Louis’s first round selection, 24th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
