UPDATE (Oct. 30) - Ken Hitchcock said David Backes was diagnosed with a concussion.

DALLAS - Blues captain David Backes sustained an upper-body injury with 4:35 left in the first period on Tuesday night in Dallas.

Backes was slow to get up after being hit by Stars defenseman Trevor Daley. He got up on his own power and skated slowly to the bench, then headed to the locker room.

After the game, Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said Backes would be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Backes has appeared in eight games for the Blues this season, recording two goals and three assists.
