HAZELWOOD, Mo. - David Backes said he feels “good to go” and will be available for Game 1 against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.
“I feel good in practice and should be just fine for a hard-fought series for a team that we’ve got our work cut out for us,” Backes said after Tuesday’s practice. “We’ve got a heck of a group in here and it’s our time to make a real dent in this tournament.”
Every player on the roster practiced on Tuesday, and Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said everyone will be available for Game 1.
“It’s nice to see,” Hitchcock said. “I’ve got some choices now. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.”
Everyone available would indicate that Steve Ott, out since December with a hamstring injury, is also available to play. Jake Allen (lower-body) will likely back up Brian Elliott.
“I think this is the first day since the middle of the summer that we’ve had everybody available to us as a team,” Backes said. “That’s impeccable timing, because this is when you want all your weapons on hand.
“This was my mindset from the get-go, that Game 1 I’d be full bore,” Backes added. “You get the adrenaline running, you can play through a lot of stuff. Even with little to no adrenaline in practice today, I’m feeling well.”
