ST. LOUS - Jake Allen was initially expected to miss 10-14 days of training camp while dealing with back spasms, but last weekend, he was feeling better and said he would probably be back even sooner.
Allen was true to his word and was back on the ice with the team for Tuesday's practice at Enterprise Center.

"I felt pretty good. I'm just taking it a little slow right now, nothing crazy," Allen said after the skate. "It was a short morning skate, but I just took a few shots at practice speed. It's more or less timing, just getting my feet back under myself before we really get going here."
"He took some shots to get loosened up. It was a good sign," Blues Head Coach Mike Yeo said. "It was good to get him back out there."
Allen said he won't play in either of the Blues' first two preseason games, but he does expect to get a few games before the regular season begins.
"That's our hope," Yeo said. "He's put in a lot of work this summer and obviously it was a minor setback, but part of training camp is getting practice time, but part of training camp is also getting the games and the reps and getting the timing back. Certainly it would be important for him."
"One or two (preseason games) for me is plenty," Allen said. "I feel like I'm progressing well, just going by how my body is feeling and what I'm relaying to the therapist and go from there. We're trying to kill this thing before the season starts. I don't want this to be a nagging thing for me throughout the year. I just really want to make sure it's dead and we can really ramp it up the last week or so."
