It’s a name you’ll often hear inside of Nationwide Arena. As starting netminder for the Blue Jackets, Sergei Bobrovsky knows a thing or two about stopping pucks.
During the 2014-15 season, he put up another 30-win campaign with a solid save percentage of .918. Among the highlights this past season for the 26-year-old: a career and franchise single-month record with 10 wins in March.
He also recorded a career and franchise-high 52 saves on career and franchise-high 55 shots in December, and turned aside 36 shots for his 100th career win on Nov. 15 against the San Jose Sharks.
The 2012-13 Vezina Trophy winner represented Russia at the 2014 Olympics (1-0-1, 1.15 GAA, .952 save percentage) and was the starting goalie for his home country in the last two IIHF World Championships, winning the gold medal in 2014.
Bobrovsky has steadily improved every season since joining the Blue Jackets. In January 2015, he signed a four-year contract extension and is now signed through the 2018-19 season. So, yeah, he’s not going anywhere any time soon.
