The Chicago Blackhawks poised for a long run through the Stanley Cup Playoffs, providing their goaltending holds up, make their final appearance of the season at Nationwide Arena tonight. The Hawks have won the first four games in the season series with the sixth and final match-up scheduled for Sunday night at the United Center.
Coach Claude Noel didn't mince words this morning when addressing the media about the Blackhawks. Noel offered... "they are not at the top of the conference by accident, they are highly creative offensively and we have to be ready." Noel went on to say the Jackets cannot get into a wide open game with Chicago, adding his team needs to be strong on the puck. The 'Hawks love to control the puck and they don't give it away.
The Jackets worked on both "special teams" in practice yesterday after giving up three power play goals to the Devils Tuesday night in New Jersey. As for their power play, that has look decent for most of the season, they have struggled lately and are 0-for-19 over the last five games.
Steve Mason gets the start for Columbus. Noel was not displeased with the young goalies effort in yielding six goals to the Devils Tuesday, but rather thinks the team needs to support their young goalie, something they didn't do against New Jersey. Christobal Huet is expected to start for the first time in over a week for the Blackhawks tonight.
Our coverage begins with Ray Crawford and Blue Jackets Live at 6:30 p.m. Opening face-off is 7 p.m. and yes the game is in HD again.
