TORRES CONTINUES TO THRIVE IN THE CLUTCH: LW Raffi Torres has picked up 8-3-11 and is +4 in his past 18 games and has now registered 10-6-16 with a -1 plus/minus rating in 41 games this season. He collected his first multi-goal game as a Blue Jacket when he scored at 17:14 and 18:27 of the third period at Florida on Saturday to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead en route to a 3-1 victory. His second goal was his fifth game-winning goal of the season, which ties him for the club lead with Rick Nash, and was his third game-winner in the last six outings.
UMBERGER PLAYS 300TH GAME, BUILDS ON CAREER GOAL TOTAL: C R.J. Umberger tallied 1-1-2 vs. Chicago on Mar. 18 and played in the 300th game of his NHL career at Florida on Mar. 28. He has tallied 24-18-42 in 72 games this season, setting a career high in goals (20, 2005-06 with Philadelphia), and has 9-7-16 his past 24 games. His five multi-goal games are one shy of the club record of six, which is shared by Rick Nash (2003-04 & 2007-08) and Geoff Sanderson (2002-03). He has five multi-goal games in his last 60 contests after recording seven the first 239 games of his career.
MISCELLANEOUS: LW Rick Nash leads the Blue Jackets in goals, assists and points with 34-33-67 in 68 games and is seven goals and two points shy of his career highs in those categories (41 goals in 2003-04; 69 points in 2007-08). His 33 assists are a new career high (31 in 2007-08) and mark the fourth-straight season he has improved that number… C Antoine Vermette has tallied 5-3-8 in seven games with Columbus after collecting 9-19-28 in 62 games with Ottawa. He scored his first career overtime goal vs. Chicago on Mar. 18 and Columbus is 6-1-0 since he joined the club… The Blue Jackets have eight players who have scored 10 or more goals this season – LW Rick Nash (34), C R.J. COLUMBUS SETS FRANCHISE RECORDS FOR WINS, POINTS: With a 38-28-6 mark through 72 games, the Blue Jackets are enjoying the best season in franchise history and have already set club records for wins (35, 2005-06) and points (80, 2007-08)… The club has also tied marks for home wins at 23-11-2 (23, 2005-06) and road wins at 15-17-4 (15, 2006-07)... Columbus has won three-straight road games, which is one shy of the club record of four set from Dec. 2-12, 2006 (at Edmonton, Colorado, St. Louis and Dallas).
JACKETS PLAY FINAL GAME VS. EAST: The Blue Jackets play their final game against an Eastern Conference opponent on Tuesday at Tampa Bay before finishing the season with nine games vs. Western Conference clubs, including seven-straight against the Central Division from Mar. 28-Apr. 10… Columbus has gone 13-3-1 in games against Eastern Conference teams this season, outscoring the opposition 47 to 26… G Steve Mason has gone 12-1-0 with a 1.06 goals-against average, .965 save percentage and six shutouts in 13 games against the Eastern Conference.
