OCT. 18 – DALLAS 3, at BLUE JACKETS 2:
Kari Lehtonen made 38 saves and Jamie Benn tallied 1-1-2 to lead the Stars to the win despite being outshot 40 to 18 by the Blue Jackets. Dallas led 2-0 early in the third period before the Jackets twice cut the lead to one on goals by Derick Brassard and Kris Russell. Columbus went 1-of-3 on the power play and held Dallas to 0-of-2 with the man advantage… OCT. 21 – at DETROIT 5, BLUE JACKETS 2: The Red Wings scored three power play goals and added an empty netter late to earn the win at Joe Louis Arena. Valtteri Filppula (1-3-4) and Johan Franzen (2-1-3) paced the Detroit attack, while Columbus got 1-1-2 from Aaron Johnson and a goal from Derick Brassard. The Blue Jackets outshot the Wings 34 to 33 in the game… OCT. 22 – at OTTAWA 4, COLUMBUS 3: Jason Spezza scored the tying goal at 19:24 of the third period and Milan Michalek won it with a power play goal at 19:55 for Ottawa. Columbus overcame an early 1-0 deficit to take 2-1 and 3-2 leads on goals by Aaron Johnson, Kris Russell and Rick Nash before the Senators stormed back late. Steve Mason made 23 saves for the Blue Jackets, while Craig Anderson stopped 18 shots for the Senators.

NEWS & NOTES
C Derick Brassard scored the 2,000th goal in Blue Jackets history vs. Dallas on Oct. 18 at 5:06 of the third period. RW Rick Nash and D David Savard assisted on the power play goal. The club’s previous milestone goals were scored by: Bruce Gardiner – 1 (Oct. 7, 2000 vs. Chicago), Espen Knutsen – 500 (Jan. 30, 2003 vs. Nashville), Rostislav Klesla – 1,000 (Nov. 22, 2006 vs. St. Louis) and Nash – 1,500 (Feb. 18, 2009 vs. St. Louis)… The Blue Jackets have scored a power play goal in each of the past four games (4-of-18/22.2 pct.)… The three goals scored at Ottawa on Saturday snapped a streak of seven-straight games in which the Jackets were held to two goals… Columbus has allowed the first goal in six-of-eight games… The Blue Jackets are 0-4-1 in one-goal games this season.

NASH IS FIRST JACKET TO 600 GAMES WITH THE CLUB, FOUR POINTS SHY OF 500: RW Rick Nash became the first player to appear in 600 games as a Blue Jacket at Ottawa on Oct. 22. He has tallied 3-5-8 and 24 shots in eight games this season to raise his career totals to 262-234-496 and 1,996 shots in 600 games. He enters the week eight goals shy of 300, four points shy of 500 and four shots shy of 2,000 in his NHL career.

PROSPAL CONTINUES TO LEAD COLUMBUS: LW Vinny Prospal, who joined the club as a free agent this summer after spending the past two seasons with the NY Rangers, is tied for the club lead in goals, assists, points and shots on goal with 3-5-8 and 24 shots in eight games. He has picked up a point in six-of-eight games, is averaging 18:43 TOI, has a +1 plus/minus rating. He registered his second multi-point game of the season with 0-2-2 at Ottawa on Oct. 22.

JOHNSON BOLSTERS BLUELINE: D Aaron Johnson leads all club defensemen and is third overall in scoring with 2-2-4 in four games. In his last two games, he has notched 2-1-3 with a +1 plus/minus rating and logged 49:39 of ice time. He tallied 1-1-2 and a season-high 25:21 TOI at Detroit on Oct. 21 and scored a goal and was +1 in 24:18 of action at Ottawa the following night. Johnson, who was the club’s fourth pick, 85th overall in the 2001 Entry Draft and spent the 2003-07 with the club, rejoined the Jackets as a free agent last July. His goal at Detroit was his first with the club since Mar. 29, 2007 vs. Anaheim.

BRASSARD BOUNCES BACK: After being held without a point and logging less than 13:00 TOI per game in his first five outings this season, C Derick Brassard has tallied points in his last three games with 2-1-3 and averaged just under 18:00 TOI during that span. He scored his first goal of the season vs. Dallas on Oct. 18, added a goal at Detroit on Oct. 21 and picked up an assist at Ottawa on Oct. 22.

MISCELLANEOUS PLAYER NOTES: LW R.J. Umberger has played in 257 consecutive games since Apr. 2, 2008 (with Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh), including a franchise-best 254 in a row since joining the Blue Jackets prior to the 2008-09 season… D Fedor Tyutin played in the 500th game NHL career at Ottawa on Oct. 22 (37-124-161, 235 PIM)… C Antoine Vermette is seven points shy of 300 in his NHL career (133-160-293 in 548 games)… C Ryan Johansen, the club’s first pick, fourth overall, in the 2010 Entry Draft, registered his first career NHL point with an assist on Kris Russell’s goal at Ottawa on Oct. 22… D Kris Russell scored his first goal of the season vs. Dallas on Oct. 18 and added his second two games later at Ottawa on Oct. 22

The Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation will host its annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night in partnership with OhioHealth and F.O.P. Lodge No. 9 on Tuesday when the club hosts the Detroit Red Wings. As part of the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer program, the night will feature a purple jersey auction of custom HFC jerseys worn by the players during warm-ups, special HFC T-Shirts, the debut of the 2011-12 Hats for Heroes hats and much more. FIRST OFFICIAL VIEWING PARTY OF THE SEASON THIS THURSDAY
The Blue Jackets Official Viewing Party is back. Fans are invited to come and meet members of the Pepsi Power Patrol and team mascot, Stinger, as well as win great Blue Jackets prizes throughout the night. The first viewing party of the season is this Thursday, October 27. NEW BLUE JACKETS MOBILE APP NOW AVAILABLE
The Columbus Blue Jackets official mobile app, through the NHL GameCenter platform, gives fans a new way to follow the team using their smart phones and mobile devices on the Apple and Android operating systems. Blue Jackets hockey returns to FOX Sports Ohio in 2011-12 with 79 live telecasts in high definition.
