RW Jared Boll (broken thumb, Sept. 30 vs. Carolina; Injured Reserve on Oct. 1) is expected to miss at least four to six weeks…LW Kristian Huselius (torn pectoral muscle, surgery on July 14; Injured Reserve) is expected to miss four to six months… G Mark Dekanich (lower body injury, Sept. 20 vs. Winnipeg; Injured Reserve) is out two to four weeks… Games Missed Due to Injury: 6.

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS
OCT. 7 – NASHVILLE 3, at BLUE JACKETS 2:
Pekka Rinne (32 saves) outdueled Steve Mason (28 saves) to lead the Predators to a 3-2 win before a sellout crowd of 18,247 at Nationwide Arena. The line of Vinny Prospal (1-1-2), Jeff Carter (0-2-2) and Rick Nash (0-2-2) combined for 2-4-6 to lead Columbus, while Ryan Suter tallied 1-1-2 for Nashville. Columbus went 0-of-5 on the power play, while Nashville was 1-of-3 with the man advantage… OCT. 8 – at MINNESOTA 4, BLUE JACKETS 2: Matt Cullen scored 1:10 into the game and the Wild jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 4-2 win at Xcel Energy Center. Trailing 3-0 late in the second period, Columbus cut the Wild lead to 3-1 on a goal by Derek Dorsett at the 17:53 mark before Devin Setoguchi restored the three-goal advantage for Minnesota just 58 seconds later. Maksim Mayorov lit the lamp in his season debut at 16:38 of the third to round out the scoring. Niklas Backstrom made 29 saves for the Wild, who were outshot 31 to 26 in the game.

NEWS & NOTES
Columbus has opened the season with two-straight losses for the third-time in club history (2000-01 and 2005-06)… The Jackets responded to its previous 0-2-0 starts with wins (3-2 at Calgary on Oct. 12, 2000 and 3-2 at Chicago on Oct. 9, 2005)… The Blue Jackets have fired off 65 shots in their first two games… Columbus has won 54.1 pct. of face offs in its first two games (72-of-133).

CARTER OFF AND RUNNING: C Jeff Carter has collected 0-3-3 and 11 shots in his first two games as a Blue Jacket and is the only player on the club to register a point in the season’s first two games. He collected 0-2-2 vs. Nashville on Oct. 7 in his Jackets debut and also set a franchise record by winning 24-of-31 face-offs (77 pct.) vs. the Predators. The previous record for face-offs won in a game was 23, set twice by Mike Sillinger (Mar. 11, 2002 vs. Pittsburgh-most recent).

NASH COLLECTS 124TH MULTI-POINT GAME, EYEING SEVERAL MILESTONES: LW Rick Nash tallied 1-1-2 vs. Nashville on Oct. 7 to record the 124th multi-point game of his NHL career and his first on Opening Night since Oct. 5, 2007 (2-2-4 vs. Anaheim). With 260-230-490 and 1,979 shots in 594 games, he is six games shy of 600, 10 goals shy of 300, 10 points shy of 500 and 21 shots shy of 2,000 in his NHL career.

MISCELLANEOUS PLAYER NOTES: LW R.J. Umberger has played in 251 consecutive games since Apr. 2, 2008 (with Philadelphia vs. Pittsburgh), including a franchise-best 248 in a row since joining the Blue Jackets prior to the 2008-09 season… LW Vinny Prospal collected 1-1-2 vs. Nashville on Oct. 7 in his first game as a Blue Jacket… LW Maksim Mayorov scored his first goal of the season in his debut at Minnesota on Oct. 8… D Fedor Tyutin is six games shy of 500 in his NHL career… D Aaron Johnson picked up an assist at Minnesota on Oct. 8 in his season debut. It was his first point as a Blue Jacket since Mar. 29, 2007 (goal vs. Anaheim) and his first assist with the club since Mar. 7, 2007 (vs. Los Angeles)… Three players – LW Cam Atkinson, C Ryan Johansen and D David Savard all made their NHL debuts on Opening Night vs. Nashville.
