*Best Start in Franchise History Continues: Columbus’ 8-3-2 mark is the best start in franchise history… Prior to this season, the earliest the club registered its eighth win was 2002-03 in its 19th game… A 3-2 win over St. Louis on Nov. 20, 2002 gave the Jackets an 8-7-2-2 mark that year… The club was also 6-5-1-1 through 13 games that season… Last season, the club was 5-7-1 through 13 games and didn’t get win No. 8 until Dec. 5 (3-0 at Colorado) in its 26th game.

*NHL’s Best: The Blue Jackets continue to lead the NHL in goals-against average, allowing just 23 goals (21, plus two shootout goals) in 13 games for a 1.77 GAA… Columbus leads the NHL in penalty killing at 94.0 percent (63-of-67)… The club is tied for second in the NHL with three shorthanded goals (4 – Ottawa).

PLAYER NOTES

*Fresh off being named the NHL’s Second Star for the month of October (Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg was 1st Star, Calgary’s Jarome Iginla was 3rd), G Pascal Leclaire made his November debut vs. St. Louis on Nov. 4 and stopped all 21 shots he faced to record his fifth shutout of the season in a 3-0 win… Leclaire has tied the franchise record for shutouts in a season (Marc Denis, 2002-03 and 2003-04) in just his ninth start of the season… He is currently 7-2-0 with a 1.12 goals-against average, .957 save percentage and five shutouts in nine games this season… He leads the NHL in GAA, save percentage and shutouts, while ranking second in wins (tied).

*LW Rick Nash continues to rank among NHL goals and points leaders with a team-high 10-6-16 in 13 games… He currently stands fourth in the NHL in goals and is tied for 14th in points… After being held without a point in three-straight games from Oct. 6-13, he has racked up 8-4-12 with points in seven of nine games.
