OCT. 25 – at BLUE JACKETS 4, Red Wings 1: The Maple Leafs scored four goals in their first 11 shots to take a 4-0 lead early in the second period and went on to win despite being outshot 39 to 18 by Columbus. Clark MacArther scored two goals and Joffrey Lupul added two assists to lead Toronto, while goaltender Ben Scrivens made 28 saves to win his NHL debut. Rookie Ryan Johansen’s goal midway through the second period spoiled the shutout bid… NOV. 5 – at Flyers 9, BLUE JACKETS 2: The Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the game’s first 3:09, pushed the lead to 5-0 after one period and 8-0 after two en route to the win. Jakub Voracek and James Van Riemsdyk tallied 1-2-3 to lead the Flyers, while Derek Dorsett and Grant Clitsome scored for the Jackets.

Columbus leads the NHL in hits with 381 (27.2 per game)… The Blue Jackets have killed off 18-of-21 opponent power plays (85.7 pct.) over the past six games compared to 18-of-28 (64.3 pct.) in its first eight games… The Blue Jackets rank fourth in the NHL in shots-against per game (27.9) but stand 30th in goals-against (3.71)… The club ranks 13th-tied in shots per game (30.0 pct.) but is 26th in scoring (2.21).
NASH IS ONE POINT SHY OF 500: RW Rick Nash became the first player to appear in 600 games as a Blue Jacket at Ottawa on Oct. 22 and fired off his 2,000th career shot at Buffalo on Oct. 27. The next milestone Nash is poised to reach is 500 points as the Jackets captain is one point shy of becoming the first player in club history to reach that plateau. With 4-7-11 in 14 games this season, he has now tallied 263-236-499 in 605 career games.
ROOKIE JOHANSEN CONTINUES TO MAKE STRIDES: C/RW Ryan Johansen has tallied 3-2-5 in his last seven games after being held without a point in his first four NHL games. The club’s first pick, fourth overall, in the 2010 Entry Draft, he is just the third player in NHL history whose first two career goals were game-winners (Oct. 25 vs. Detroit and Oct. 30 vs. Anaheim). VERMETTE MATCHES VYBORNY’S GAMES PLAYED STREAK: C Antoine Vermette played in his 194th-straight game with the Blue Jackets at Philadelphia on Nov. 5, which matches David Vyborny (194, Oct. 17, 2002 to Dec. 20, 2005) for the third-longest streak in franchise history. R.J. Umberger’s current streak of 260-straight is the longest, while Jason Chimera’s 243 consecutive games from Oct. 9, 2005 to Apr. 5, 2008 ranks second.

MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT SET FOR THURSDAY’S GAME VS. CHICAGO
The Blue Jackets will celebrate Military Appreciation Night when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday, November 10. Numerous military groups will be in attendance at the game and participating in a variety of in-game activities. Blue Jackets players will be wearing special camouflage practice jerseys during pre-game warm ups that will be signed and auctioned that night and on Saturday, November 12 with proceeds benefiting the Student Veterans Affairs Fund at The Ohio State University. A special 50/50 raffle also will take place as well with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Operation Buckeye (for more information, visit www.OperationBuckeye.org). In addition, all active or retired military personnel will receive a free ticket with an accompanying paid admission at the Nationwide Arena Box Office.
